OUR MISSION
CREATE AND SUPPORT ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS THAT IGNITE THE POWER AND PROMISE OF YOUTH.

BBBS JEM ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Big Brothers Big Sisters is supported by volunteer Advisory Committees.  Each county served by The Guidance Center’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Program has its own Advisory Committee.  This ensures maximum participation of key stakeholders in communities served by the program.

Members become key stakeholders in program efforts to recruit volunteers, refer youth, support fundraising efforts, maintain fidelity to the model by participating in our annual self-assessment process and assist in program growth and sustainability. Quarterly meetings typically are held within each county, however, due to COVID-19 Joint meetings are occurring virtually.

The Guidance Center’s corporate board ensures voting representation of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.  One board member serves as the Big Brothers Big Sisters program representative and is a liaison between the three Advisory Committee groups in Jefferson, Elk, and McKean Counties.

As an evidence-based program with proven positive outcomes for youth, our goal is to serve all eligible youth seeking a caring, positive adult role model in their life.  Together we can change the direction of their life! However, we need your help!

Your thoughtful donation will help…

  • BBBS-JEM explore program options to reach as many local youth as possible.
  • Provide group activities for those children waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister so they feel connected to the program while they wait.
  • BBBS-JEM reach responsible adults willing to make a positive impact in the life of a child.
  • Provide the screening, training and continued professional support of mentors, children and their families.

We are asking you to “BECOME A DEFENDER OF POTENTIAL” for all youth in our communities.  They need you now more than ever!  All donations remain locally in your county.
